Murderdolls pick up ‘Comeback of the Year’ award at Revolver Golden God Awards

Regurgitatum:

Joey Jordison and Wednesday 13’s MURDERDOLLS picked up the hotly-contested ‘Comeback of the Year’ award last night at the Revolver Golden God Awards, held at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA. The band saw off serious big-gun competition from the likes of System of a Down, Soundgarden and Faith No More to take home the reader-voted category.

Before they hit the road for a batch of US West Coast shows this very morning, Murderdolls guitarist Joey Jordison said, “No one is above an ass-kicking and last night’s award for ‘Best Comeback’ at the Golden Gods was just that. We always keep it punk rock and will never lose sight of being the same kids we were when we first picked up sticks and strings. That’s what matters – heart and soul. I’m in a van right now when I could be in a bus, but fuck that, we are having the time of our lives. We remember who we are and we have fun with life. I’m loading my own gear for our next four dates and happier than hell! Thank you Revolver and all the Ghoulscouts. We don’t need luck when we don’t give a fuck!”

A wealth of other Roadrunner artists were busy on the night too, with Rob Zombie presenting the night’s flagship award, ‘The Golden God’ to Alice Cooper, Slipknot/Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor presenting the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ gong to Motley Crue, and Machine Head’s Robb Flynn co-presenting the ‘Best Guitarist(s)’ award to Avenged Sevenfold’s Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, in tandem with Static X’s Wayne Static.

The evening also threw up a number of very special one-off performances, with DevilDriver ripping through a special tribute medley to Black Flag, plus new song, ‘Dead To Rights’ (from DevilDriver’s latest album, ‘Beast’), and the ever-collaborating Corey Taylor got up to lend vocals to Duff McKagan’s Loaded on a cover of Judas Priest’s ‘Electric Eye’, with Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones guesting on guitar.
