Murderdolls pick up ‘Comeback of the Year’ award at Revolver Golden God Awards

Regurgitatum:

Joey Jordison and Wednesday 13’s MURDERDOLLS picked up the hotly-contested ‘Comeback of the Year’ award last night at the Revolver Golden God Awards, held at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA. The band saw off serious big-gun competition from the likes of System of a Down, Soundgarden and Faith No More to take home the reader-voted category.

Before they hit the road for a batch of US West Coast shows this very morning, Murderdolls guitarist Joey Jordison said, “No one is above an ass-kicking and last night’s award for ‘Best Comeback’ at the Golden Gods was just that. We always keep it punk rock and will never lose sight of being the same kids we were when we first picked up sticks and strings. That’s what matters – heart and soul. I’m in a van right now when I could be in a bus, but fuck that, we are having the time of our lives. We remember who we are and we have fun with life. I’m loading my own gear for our next four dates and happier than hell! Thank you Revolver and all the Ghoulscouts. We don’t need luck when we don’t give a fuck!”

A wealth of other Roadrunner artists were busy on the night too, with Rob Zombie presenting the night’s flagship award, ‘The Golden God’ to Alice Cooper, Slipknot/Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor presenting the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ gong to Motley Crue, and Machine Head’s Robb Flynn co-presenting the ‘Best Guitarist(s)’ award to Avenged Sevenfold’s Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, in tandem with Static X’s Wayne Static.

The evening also threw up a number of very special one-off performances, with DevilDriver ripping through a special tribute medley to Black Flag, plus new song, ‘Dead To Rights’ (from DevilDriver’s latest album, ‘Beast’), and the ever-collaborating Corey Taylor got up to lend vocals to Duff McKagan’s Loaded on a cover of Judas Priest’s ‘Electric Eye’, with Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones guesting on guitar.

Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution features cybernoir score by Michael McCann

The Deus Ex franchise has a strong standard of music score. DX1 is frankly iconic- are you imagining the big fanfare from the menu screen right now, too? DX2 had the musical stylings of Kidneytheives, whose albums I totally reccomend. Dx3 will have the support of Michael McCann, a master of atmospheric scores.

Regurgitatum:

Award-winning composer and sound designer Michael McCann aka Behavior (ReGenesis, Splinter Cell: Double Agent), best known for his ambient cinematic scores and organic soundscapes, is creating the original musical score for DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION™ currently in development at Eidos-Montréal. The music captures the unique visual style of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION and thematically supports the blend of action, role-playing and adventure genres featured in the game. To immerse players in the dark and beautifully visualized world of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION, the score fuses elements of cybernoir, futuristic renaissance and electrosymphonic ambience.

“We are thrilled to have Michael McCann creating the original music score for DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION,” said Steve Szczepkowski, audio director for DEUS EX at Eidos-Montréal. “His cinematic musical expression and immersive scoring sensibility brings emotional depth to the unique experience of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION. I’m a big fan of Mike’s music and working with him has been a complete pleasure.”

A critically acclaimed music composer and sound designer for film, television and interactive media, Michael McCann’s credits include the title music for the sci-tech drama series ReGenesis, sound design and music editing for the cult film It’s All Gone Pete Tong and the original score for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent which garnered him a Best Original Score Award from IGN.com and nomination from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition.
