Bodycount demo released! Video action here!

Regurgitatum (this game is looking rather fancy):

Codemasters® invites Gamers to go ballistic by downloading the Bodycount™ demo from Xbox® LIVE Marketplace today. The demo lets players sample the outrageous and over-the-top arcade gunplay that takes centre stage in the shooter that will make players fall in love with firepower.

“Fans should expect a lot of mayhem, a lot of destruction, fun, fast paced arcade action,” said Max Cant, Art Director. “It’s much more of an A-Team experience than some sort of dour, self-obsessed, self-important thing. If you want to have fun, play Bodycount.”

Set in the early stages of Bodycount’s African missions, players will assume the role of a Network Operative dropped into a chaotic warzone, tasked with tracking down a militia warlord responsible for massacring an army unit. Players, equipped with a turbo-charged arsenal of weapons including the G36 SMG, Super 90 Shotgun, grenades and proximity mines, must engage forces from all sides in blistering-paced gun-fights set amongst a shanty town.

Encouraged to be aggressive in play-style and liberal when it comes to pulling the trigger, players will shred their way through destructible cover as they battle class-based AI including medics who revive fallen foes and a powerful Psycho Tank. Players can augment their already powerful weapon set by collecting Intel from downed enemies which can then be exchanged on the fly for devastating explosive rounds, one of the game’s four upgrades, which also include airstrikes and adrenaline shots.

By completing combat chains and performing skill kills like headshots and kills through cover, players can earn extra Intel and will be rewarded with a higher score at the end of the mission. To add extra replayability, stats tracking player performance and an overall grade are issued at the end of the mission. In the game’s Bodycount mode players can replay all completed levels to improve their score.

A demo for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system will follow. Further details on this release, alongside the latest news, screens and videos, will be released at www.facebook.com/bodycountgame  and www.twitter.com/bodycountgame

Bodycount is set to fire into retail on August 30th (North America) and September 2nd (EMEA) for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

Bethesdagasm! Skyrim collector’s edition details and QuakeCon screenshots out the wazoo!

Behold this regurgitatum, and remember to click for bigger pics:

Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that it will release a collector’s edition for the highly-anticipated The Elder Scrolls® V: Skyrim™. The limited collector’s edition will be available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows® and can be pre-ordered in the UK now exclusively through GAME and gamestation.

Skyrim Collector's Edition

In addition to including the eagerly awaited game, this premium version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim also includes:

• Alduin Statue. Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector’s only statue stands 30.5cm tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modelled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game’s many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.

• ‘The Art of Skyrim’ Official Art Book. Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-colour illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 23.8cm x 30.8cm coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game’s iconic visual style.

• ‘The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ DVD. This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, gameplay, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more.

“We always say that we make the games we want to play. We can also say we create the collector’s editions we’d want to own,” said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. “We all want one of these!”

The extremely limited Collector’s Edition will be available through pre-order in the UK via GAME and gamestation for £129.99.

Well, it’s a whopping price tag for a dvd, art book and statue, but I’m expecting them to be of lovely quality. The only gripe I have with these gotta catch ’em all editions, is that the game is new. It might not be any good yet! Surely you buy a special edition with a statue and art book and commerative blood sample after playing the game and falling in love with it? Anyway, it will be fancy.

In other news, look at these QuakeCon-tastic screenies for RAGE, Prey 2 and Dishonored, in that order:

Latest Dead Island Screenshots! Blood and/or guts!

There’s this island, right, and it’s being overrun by the dead. Insensitive people might even call it Dead Island.

I think we all know what to expect from this game. Hitting zombies with things, gratuitous violence, Hawaiian shirts. The trailer was a massive hit thanks to it’s rather soulful and artsy depiction of events in the game, but there is frankly no such thing as a serious zombie game or film. You can be sad about all the dead people if you like, but you still have a game where dead bodies charge around with all the realism of a boat-centaur hybrid. Some of the dead bodies, it would seem, have developed special powers, like the power to be in a straight jacket. You know, they’re even producing a novelisation. Really? ‘John smashed the zombie’s face in with a lamp. It was sticky. Damn, he thought, I’m so upset by all these zombies.’

To enjoy Dead Island, I feel we should focus on the simple, unadulterated fun aspects. Let’s not detract from what will sell this game- amusing ways to fight zombies, and lovely graphics. Speaking of which, here are some new screenshots! Click for the full-size versions.

New Dead Island Screenshot 2

This black gentleman appears to enjoy urban fashion and prominently displayed jewellery. I bet he says the M word, sooner or later.

New Dead Island Screenshot 3

The island is actually called 'Banoi', which has its own mythological connection to the dead.

New Dead Island Screenshot 4

One day, a woman in a game will be dressed appropriately. This is not it.

New Dead Island Screenshot 5

'Going down!' or possibly 'It's hammer time!' or even 'Don't lose your head!'. You get the idea.

New Dead Island Screenshot 6

This chap was partaking of the 'extra' services offered by the resort's massage parlour.

New Dead Island Screenshot 7

Lovely lighting effects highlight the bloated pus sacks on the fellow at the back. 'This is not my best angle', he wails as his failing, putrescent body becomes a perverse weapon.
