Break a Guinness World Record from the comfort of your living room! No, not doing that…
The Guinness World Record chaps are launching an app tomorrow for the iPad. Aside from the usual scores of record information, this app will give purchasers the opportunity to attempt to break real records.
There are three such World Record challenges on the app, indeed only breakable by using the app. The person to hold the record for each challenge will get a well-deserved place in the upcoming world records book! These include ‘fastest 100m on an iPad’ going up against Usain Bolt, speed typing the alphabet backwards and longest sequence memorized of human sounds. The best times will be announced on the 1st of May 2011.
Odd, yes, but a great competition for World Records fans and the first app of its kind. This is no small app at 380MB, but it will be totally packed; over 150 photographs, 140 records, and 20 videos under the topics of Tallest, Strangest, Most, Deadliest, Fastest, Craziest and Most Expensive along with interviews with record breakers. Naturally everything will be in superbly high quality and will also include touch-related features like a CGI tour of the Bloodhound Supersonic (set to be the fastest car on earth) and a rotating 360° image of the Aurumania Gold Bike Crystal Edition which is made of 24-carat gold and 600 Crystallized Swarovski elements.
“This is not the Guinness World Records book for the iPad, this is unique and specifically created content that is dedicated to showcasing everything that is amazing about the iPad and Guinness World Records;” said Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records.
There you have it. Guinness World Records: At Your Fingertips is available from Thursday 16th December for £2.99 at the iTunes Store.
